A mala is a string of 108 beads with one bead as the summit or Guru bead. Malas are used as an to meditation, or to count mantras in sets of 108 repetitions.
This necklace is made with natural Aquamarine beads (8mm round) in shades from milky blue to clear pale blue to cloudy blue. The marker beads are natural Amethyst (8m round) beads in dark purple tones. The summit or Guru bead is a large (20mm round) bead, a Turquoise colour Howlite stone with brown line patterns. The tassle is a silver line turquoise blue. The necklace is threaded on a turquoise blue colour thread. Each knot is hand tied and a blessing said with each knot.
The necklace has a total drop length of 27 inches, the beaded section is 44.5 inches long (approx 113 cm).
Aquamarine – a semi-precious gemstone – is a birthstone for March, it is a stone of courage – reminds us that the current trials and trouble will pass. It is said to energise the heart and throat chakras.
Amethyst – a semi precious gemstone – is a birthstone for February. It is said to be a protective stone – helping to ward off psychic attack. It is said to alleviate grief, sadness and negativity. It is also said to assist with insomnia. Amethyst is linked to the Third Eye Chakra and the Crown Chakra.
The Mala necklace can be used for meditation, or can be worn as a fashionable blue and purple necklace. It would look very chic with a long maxi dress to take you through summer. You could also wear the necklace as a multi wrap bracelet.
